Each year, since 1989, The Banquet, a ministry whose main mission is to serve hungry people in our community, has led an additional organizational effort – to provide area students with essential school supplies.

Project SOS has its roots in an encounter involving a Banquet guest and a staff member. In 1989, a mother of several children, was struggling and frustrated to the point of tears as she was unable to afford school supplies for her children. Many other parents and their children face a similar dilemma at the start of each school year.

Many dedicated individuals, businesses, churches and other organizations contribute to make this project a tremendous success through donations of money and/or supplies. The Sioux Falls Jaycees have participated in this project since 2006.
